Christmas always stresses me out. Between travel plans, gift ideas, wish lists and finishing up at work, there's a lot to keep track of. Luckily, Google Notebook helps out a bit — below are a few tips from the folks who use Notebook that can ease the stress during the holiday frenzy:
- Store travel information in Google Notebook. When there are multiple reservations involved, it's useful to have a single notebook with all of your confirmations side-by-side without all the extra stuff from the original email. Or if you're still trying to choose between different travel options, Notebook is a handy place to save alternatives from different booking sites. Just select the relevant part of any page and clip it (check out this video for more tips). It's then super-easy to print the notebook, share it with the people you're visiting, or use the mobile version to access it at the airport. For me, putting everything into a trip Notebook is also a useful way to make sure I didn't accidentally schedule a return flight before a departure flight (which I've been known to do on occasion).
- Make notebooks of present ideas. I have a notebook of ideas for presents that I clip into any time I run across something promising while browsing the web. Or I just put down ideas as they pop into my head. Making a section for each person you need to give a present to help you feel more in control. (But be sure not to publish your notebook or you'll ruin the surprise!)
- Make a wish list notebook. Help out your uncreative friends (or parents!) with a wish list notebook. Do make this one public! One tip: public notebooks aren't always the most attractive way to share a wish list. But luckily there's a way to take any public notebook and make a custom display for it. Here's a view I made that you can put your notebook into to send to your friends.*

Agreed. I dump travel info into Google Notebook and will then text it to my cell phone via Google Send to Phone (http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/sendtophone/)
BTW, you need to change your title from "Noteboo" to "Notebook".

I've loved the Google Notebook concept from the beginning but don't like to take up screen real estate with toolbars. What made me start using Notebook is the ability to have it in the status bar in Firefox which is very convenient and totally unobtrusive. Thanks to whoever came up with that!
As for bookmarks I'll stick to del.icio.us, but the ability to easily transfer Notebook content to Google docs is awesome.
Good idea to be google-notebooked. I use it for cooperation of many persons when I "glue together" a complicated texts for let's say court sessions. I use it as a "geocaching to do list", to store jokes collected from e-mails, to store idioms in other languages and I use it as a sectioned Wish-list. This last one has one "minus": there's no possibility to send an e-mail to the owner with one-click.
And finally I'll try to use the notebook as a Shopping list accessible with a handy. Recently I wrote a note that I'd appreciate to access the Google Notebook from a mobile phone because I often forgot my paper shopping list magnetized on the fridge. And it is here...

Posting after this entry since I can't post after the initial one. Is there or will there be any way to turn off the bookmarks integration with notebook? I do not want it and unless I can completely turn it off I'll be forced to quit using one or the other.

I frequently use Google Notebook for a lot of my edits. However I am pissed off at one feature. Whenever I am writing in a note and if I hit CTRL and left arrow key (<-)on the keyboard, the control jumps to a new note topic on the begining of the notebook. I like to use CTRL + Left/Right arrow keys to jump from word to word in right or left direction. However I am annoyed with the behavior of the control jumping to the start of a new note.
I was unable to find a forum/contact to submit this feedback until I stumbled upon your blog.

so, is there still a STAND ALONE notebook extension for IE7 available anywhere, withOUT the Toolbar? I do not like the idea of bundling things for me - I can do it myself IF I choose to...
Hi, notebook is great! I am loving it so far. As a programmer, I'm wondering if it'd be possible to get a "code" tag I can use to save highlighted text as formatted code. That's my one and only request. Keep up the great work!

Using Google notebook is great !
But....
I noticed something : I lost some labels in the labels section on the left down corner page, moreover the count is false versus the labeled notes.
Please note that the label list for a note contains all the labels I have assigned (also the labels which are dispeared from the labels section and therefore I cannot filter them).
Could somebody explain why this happened ? How can we made an update ?

Amen to MM on his comment - the CTRL-L and CTRL-R Keys are sacred cows...every app in the world uses that to advance from word to word and the embedded jump function you've added really gets to be a nuisance. My 2 cents.

Why can't google notebook be available separately as an IE addon / extension just like Zotero is to firefox. I hate the fact that I have to install a toolbar to get to use google notebook.
Figured out a way to use Google Notebook in Safari.
Use Safari 3. Preferences>Advanced Tab>Turn on the Developer Menu. Go to Google Notebook.
When at page go menu Develop>User Agent> Firefox 2.0 for Mac or Windows.
Page will reload. You can now use Google Notebook in Safari.
