There's been a lot of excitement about Google Chrome, Google's fast and clean new web browser. But you may have noticed that it's missing a way to clip to Google Notebook! Oh noes! Luckily, you can still add and use the Google Notebook bookmarklet. To install a bookmarklet on Google Chrome, click the
Then, go to the bookmarklet page and drag and drop the bookmarklet on to your bookmarks bar.
The next time you find something you want to clip, click on "Note This" in your bookmarks bar and away you go. Hurrah!

You need to first go to: http://www.google.com/googlenotebook/bookmarklet.html
There you'll see a 'Note This' icon sort of thing that you then drag and drop onto your Bookmarks bar in Chrome.
This is what I did, and I now have the 'Note This' feature in Chrome! Good luck!

Directions a bit confusing, but figured it out. However rather than "Note This" appearing I get a string of text that ends in "Note This". Odd
Love Notebook and am warming up to Chrome too. Seems that Notebook behaves differently in Chrome than what I am used to in Firefox.

In chrome I cannot get a simultaneous view of both my notebooks and the notes - so everything is going into the last notebook I had open.
Am I missing the obvious? Or is this just a weakness of using notebook with chrome right now?

I cannot understand why Google isn't integrating Chrome with Notebook and Bookmarks... one of the coolest opportunities Chrome'll give to us is to have already that support integrated in the browser without the need to install 2 add-ons such as google toolbar and google notebook... so why waiting for them? It should be one of the first new cool feature to be ready, already in the third week after the first release...

The application shortcut tip is great! Just the other day, I gave feedback on Google Notebook to suggest a desktop app. I didn't find a regular browser shortcut satisfying, because my regular browser (firefox) is too bloated (perfect for web surfing, though), but this should work like a charm.
For the record, I've been a critic of note-taking apps for years, in which time I've tried pretty much everything out there. My favorite is Tomboy, but unfortunately, it's not available for Windows and, as far as I know, there are no online sites offering it as a service, as of yet. While I can't honestly say that I love Google Notebook, I do believe that it best fills my note-taking needs at this point in time. My biggest gripe with it now is that you can't print individual sections; without printing the entire page, that is.

What I loved about Chrome is the very clean look. I was hoping to avoid adding the bookmark bar, or any other toolbars for that matter. Ideally, for me, I would be able to add a button that had a drop down menu of bookmarks and other such tools.
I really adore your work, but I miss painstakingly a better bookmarking interface, as it is too difficult to find even the bookmark from yesterday, maybe Google could invent an completely new interface for bookmarking, more intelligent, cool, easier, sexier. I like the Firefox bookmarking much more, but think you could top that for miles ahead. Clearer and better and easier... Like I could put folders for "Art" and "Politics", and Google suggests me the right folder straight a head for 1 click where to put it. Also Google could offer all my untagged bookmarks for any special folders, this should be no problem with xml.

Seems that I have to give up using Crome. I am a reporter, multitasking on several projects, having a Google Notebook for each. But in Crome you seem to have to go though such a fuss changing to the right notebook for the note in question. Functions only o.k. if you only use one Notebook. How come Google Crome makes life more difficult. Not like Google. Returns to Firefox.
i tried to find the answer for offline support of google notebook , it is in discussion since 2006 ... till now there is no news ...
Can we have any google desktop gadgets or any application offline which sync with desktop (integrate with google gear) that support offline access to notebook

Bummer, I loved this service.
I have to concur this discontinuing development and support for google notebook erodes my trust in google. Really in this world we live in especially in this economy now, how were we ever so naive to think we could trust any company to safeguard our information. What is to prevent google from just pulling the plug on this thing altogether. This is the last time I trust in the "good will" of a company whose mission is to turn a profit. Sure when the dough is rolling in google can continue their model of free this and free that but what happens with new management, shareholders, economy etc. I won't rely on google anymore the death on notebook may just be the canary in the coalmine of google services that millions of people have relied on. So much for beta programs. I always thought of beta as a work in progress not a way to get free guinea pigs to work out market ideas.
Please don't kill it, I love Google Notebook.

I am very disappointed. It will be difficult to trust Google again.
I am grateful that I will not lose my notebooks, but I was about to recommend it to my academic community as one of the best ways to record research notes.
You can make notes on any platform, then later rearrange them and export them to Googe Docs. Together they make a killer ap which no-one else comes near to.
I also use Evernote, but only for graphic images of text (which it can OCR automatically). It is much more cumbersome than Notebook.
Why withdraw it simply because it doesn't have enough users? A great product like this will grow.
Withdrawing a product which is already out of the Labs means that it is difficult to trust the long-term commitment of Google to any of their aps.
How can anyone build a business or a research project using software which might not be available to future staff members? How do we know that Google Checkout won't disappear? Who will spend time building apps for Chrome now? Is it worth writing overlay maps for Google Earth? Is even worth giving people my GMail address - should I look for a more permanent one?
What should I tell my community now? Perhaps I should warn them that Google gives and then takes away, so don't build a business or research plan on Google apps. Use Microsoft or Sun instead.
There is still time to reverse this decision and rescue Google's reputation, but not much time.

Is Google pulling Notebook?
I've fully immersed myself in its use. I swapped to Chrome and although it's useable within Firefox I was able to 'right click and then - add to notes' - this was a thousand times faster and for research (academic and journalistic) was invaluable.
I'm glad someone has instructed me how to bring it to Chrome in basic format - but it ain't cutting the mustard like Firefox.
And if you guys have pulled it - then shame on you. If it has been pulled will I wake up one day and find all of my dissertation notebook pages have vanished?
And if this is the case SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY please tell me how I can make it possible to rapidly shift all my notes to another environment without bleeding my bank account dry - be great if that worked in an offline fashion also and could be saved into some other fully stable environment like.. I dread to say.. Word using hyperlinks.
Back in March(?) Google did announce the end of Notebook development. (I haven't seen that change - but maybe it did?). At that time they said Notebook won't go away (for existing users) but there is no new development. Which means one or two major version upgrades of browsers, and your notebook add-in might be "broken" (or not...)
So I switched to Zotero. For me, its Notebook done right. For my collegiate friends, its heaven because it handles references according to some kind of arcane format rulebook they must follow.
I like Zotero because THE CITES ARE ALL ON MY MACHINE - so unlike Notebook, or any other online site, it NEVER goes away :))).
Oh, and it's FREE.
I should disclose that Zotero (as far as I know) is for Firefox ONLY...
I use both browsers, so I sometimes forget those pesky details (My apologies Chrome lovers.)
