I love my Google Notebook browser extension. It's like a faithful puppy. It follows me by my side everywhere I go on the Internet.
Sadly, I can't always take my Firefox extensions with me. Maybe I'm traveling, using a friend's computer, or perhaps I feel like using Safari today. Then I find a hilarious picture of a LOLdog. ZOMG! How do I clip it to Notebook???
We have a solution: the Google Notebook bookmarklet! Just add the bookmarklet to your browser's bookmarks bar. Every time you click on it, it will grab your current selection and post it to your Google Notebook in a small window.
To be fair, the bookmarklet is like the dirty pig to my trusty Firefox extension sheep dog. But when I need to clip and I need it now and my extension isn't right beside me, it's definitely helped me. I hope it will help you, too. Let us know how it feels.

But it needs some polishing.
For the moment,on my Mac, it does creates a note with a link to the page I want to build a note from.
Fine.
But it does not clip and does not post the selection.
All I get is a title and a link. Period.
So, for now I stick to the regular firefox extension...
It would be nice if the Toolbar button icon could be the little notebook we're used to. I thought I'd lost it, as it no longer appears at the bottom right of the web page.

The original javascript code for bookmarklet has a bug for Chinese encode: when the webpage encoded by 'gb2312', there would be many garbled characteres. Here i present a fix: just adding "d.charset='utf-8'", would fix the bug.

I am having terrible problems with the add-on on my Macbook (Leopard). Using the latest update of both Firefox 3 and Google notebook add-on with the icon in the lower right hand of the Firefox browser. If Notebook is open and I scroll down, the Google Notebook window 'replicates' itself as I scroll so by the bottom of the page I have maybe 8 - 10 overlapping Notebook windows making it impossible to select text and note.
Anyone have similar experience or any ideas?
Unfortunately, the issue with the extension on Firefox 3 for Mac is a bug in Firefox. You can help by voting to have it fixed.

Wasn't even aware of that possibility. Have voted and at least I know what condition I am suffering from: "XUL elements don't redraw properly over the main viewport."
Is it still possible to vote for having the "XUL elements don't redraw properly over the main viewport" bug fixed sooner? Or has that option been removed? I'm new at this whole taking interest in bugs thing, but I'm now affected, since I now use FF3.
Not to stray too far off topic here, but any chance we'll get file attachments on the Notebook?

Some background beforehand:
I love firefox. I've been using it since the original Phoenix/Firebird releases (0.7 was awesome!).
But I never bother using the bookmark bar, in fact, I normally shut it off, and set "small buttons" on my toolbar.
So, how's a guy supposed to get a bookmarklet with no bookmark bar?
I'll tell you!
Simply drag the bookmark link to the "Home" button instead of the bookmark bar to set your home page to the bookmarklet. Now whenever you click the home button, you trigger the bookmarklet instead!
(Which is great if you use FF3's "Save and Quit" feature!)
